How to Obtain Coal in Stardew Valley

How to Get Coal in Stardew Valley

In Stardew Valley, coal is an essential resource needed for various crafting recipes and upgrades. Here are different methods to obtain coal:

1. Mining

Coal can be found while mining for ores in the mine located in the northeast of Pelican Town. As you progress deeper into the mine, you will encounter more coal nodes. Use your pickaxe to break the nodes and collect the coal. Leveling up your mining skill also increases the chance of finding coal.

2. Geodes

Visit the blacksmith, Clint, in Pelican Town to have geodes broken open. Sometimes, geodes may contain coal. Collecting and opening geodes is a great way to obtain coal, as well as other valuable minerals.

3. Killing Dust Sprites and Shadow Brutes

In levels 40-79 of the mine, you may encounter Dust Sprites, and in levels 80+, you may encounter Shadow Brutes. Defeating these monsters has a chance to drop coal along with other loot. Be sure to bring your weapon and some food to stay prepared during combat.

4. Recycling Machines

Using a recycling machine, you can convert some items into coal. Place items like a broken CD, broken glasses, or soggy newspaper into a recycling machine to obtain coal. You can construct a recycling machine after unlocking the recipe with the crafting recipe, “Recycling Machine.”

With these different methods, you should be able to gather enough coal to progress in Stardew Valley. Good luck!
